The Republican congressman suggested in a fundraising email Tuesday that the language used in the search warrant implied that current President Joe Biden, a Democrat, wanted armed agents to take him down.

On his social media platform, Truth Social, he also claimed that “Joe Biden’s Justice Department authorized the FBI to use deadly force” against him.
His campaign amplified the idea, adding in a separate email that “authorizing the use of ‘deadly force’ against a former President of the United States (and the political party in power’s chief political rival) takes weaponizing the law by the Biden Administration to a whole new level.”
“The consequences of the Biden Administration’s corrupt recklessness and sick desire for revenge could have been catastrophic. Make no mistake: Corrupt Joe Biden is the single greatest threat to our Democracy and it’s not even close,” the message read.
The warrant in question states that agents may use deadly force if the subject “poses an imminent danger of death or serious physical injury to an agent or other person.”
The FBI itself has responded to these accusations, assuring that “standard protocol” was followed in the search, as it is in all similar operations, and that “no one ordered the use of any additional measures, and there was no deviation from standard practice.”
The Mar-a-Lago estate of the former president and Republican presidential candidate for the November elections was searched in the summer as part of the criminal case opened against Trump for taking classified documents from the White House when he left office.
On May 7, Judge Aileen Cannon indefinitely postponed the date of this trial pending the resolution of the previous litigation, making it very unlikely that the trial will take place before the November elections.
Joe Biden’s residence in Delaware was the target of a similar search by the FBI last year, as part of an investigation into the alleged misuse of classified documents.
