Saudi Arabia's first nightclub has opened its doors. It's called Beast House and is located in Riyadh, the capital city of the Middle Eastern country.
According to Arab News, the nightclub is located in the "upscale" Diriyah district. It does not serve alcohol and only accepts members who pay an annual fee. However, men and women are allowed to mix on the dance floor, a move that signals a shift in Saudi Arabia's government policy of gender segregation.
The cheapest membership costs around €2,000, but can exceed €3,000 if the customer wants to enjoy extra perks.
In addition to dance floors, Beast House features a state-of-the-art recording studio, production suites, dedicated spaces for music workshops and seminars, as well as a "flexible stage for concerts and music events".
Alcohol has been banned in Saudi Arabia since the early 1950s, after the son of then-king Abdulaziz, the country's founding monarch, murdered British vice-consul Cyril Ousman in Jeddah while intoxicated.
