Nurse Lucy Letby, who murdered seven babies and attempted to kill six others while working on the neonatal unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital between June 2015 and June 2016 in the UK, has been refused permission to appeal her convictions.

The woman - who was jailed for life with a minimum of 32 years in August - had lodged four grounds of appeal, each claiming the judge had wrongly refused an application made on her behalf during the trial, Sky News reported.

The nurse, who was not present to hear her sentence, carried out her crimes at the Countess of Chester Hospital between June 2015 and June 2016. Despite concerns being raised, Letby was not suspended or reported to the authorities. Instead, she was moved to a different role within the hospital.

Following an investigation, the nurse, now 33, was first arrested in 2018 and formally charged in 2020 with seven counts of murder and seven of attempted murder.
