The package includes ammunition for the HIMARS missile system, Javelin anti-tank systems, artillery rounds, guided missiles, small arms, grenades, tactical vehicles and body armor.

The aid is part of the $61 billion (€56.2 billion) budget that the United States Congress approved in April, after some Republican representatives lifted the blockade that they had established for months on Washington's military support for Kyiv.

Blinken explained in the statement that, since then, the United States has already sent four packages of weapons aid to Ukraine and promised to do everything to ensure that his country delivers this fifth military aid "as soon as possible" to the front lines.

Ukrainian forces urgently need supplies of American weapons and ammunition, as Russian troops advance into the heart of the Donbas region in the east of the country, and on a second front opened in the northeast, in Kharkiv, in addition to the intensive bombings of Ukrainian infrastructure.
