"There are no American soldiers fighting in Ukraine ... I'm determined to keep it that way," Biden said during his address to the graduating class at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, about 65 kilometers (40 miles) north of New York City.

The U.S. president told the more than 1,000 graduating cadets that the country "will not stand by" as Ukraine is being attacked, and he described U.S. troops as "working tirelessly" to support Kyiv in its efforts to repel the Russian invasion.
"We are and will remain Ukraine's strongest supporter," Biden said to applause from the crowd.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appealed for Western nations — including the U.S., France and Britain — to send more powerful weaponry that can strike deep behind Russian lines.
The U.S. president also highlighted the "pivotal role" of U.S. support for allies around the world, including Israel and in the Indo-Pacific region.
Specifically, he pointed to deterring Iranian attacks against Israel in April and supporting allies in the Indo-Pacific region as China's military becomes more assertive.
"Because of the United States military, we are doing what only America can do as an indispensable nation, the single most powerful force for good on the face of the Earth," he said.
Without mentioning Donald Trump by name, Biden emphasized values that Democrats have said would be at risk if the Republican were to return to the White House: liberty and equal rights.
Trump was the last president to address a graduating class at West Point, in 2020.
