In a statement, the Tunisian Presidency revealed that Khaled Nouri was appointed to the position of Minister of the Interior, replacing Kamel Feki, who was considered close to the head of state.

The position of Secretary of State in the Ministry of the Interior was also created, responsible for the country's national security, entrusted to Sofiene Ben Sadok.

In the Ministry of Social Affairs, Kamel Madouri, "a technocrat," describes the France-Presse agency, now holds the position of Malek Zahi.

The Efe agency indicates that the three new leaders took office "in a quick ceremony held in the presidential palace in the presence of Prime Minister Ahmed Hachani, at the same time that the dismissal of their predecessors was announced."

Tunisian President Cais Said has monopolized powers since the summer of 2021 and his mandate ends on October 23, but presidential elections have not yet been scheduled nor has he announced a possible candidacy.

The ministerial change revealed on Saturday occurs at a time of several arrests in civil society, including politicians, businessmen, and judges, which raises fears of a decline in rights won in 2011.
