"An attempt by the Kyiv regime to carry out a terrorist attack using fixed-wing UAVs on targets in Russia was thwarted in the early hours of Saturday evening. Air defense systems intercepted and destroyed ten UAVs over the Kursk region and three UAVs over the Oryol region," the military said.

Russian forces also shot down a UAV over Belgorod at around 08:00 Moscow time (05:00 Lisbon time).

The latter region was targeted by a Ukrainian attack the previous day, with a Ukrainian Neptune anti-ship missile and 29 Czech-made RM-70 Vampire missiles, according to the defense.

Four civilians were killed as a result of the Ukrainian attacks on Belgorod the previous day, according to the local governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov.

"Unfortunately, the number of civilian casualties has increased to four people," he wrote on Telegram, adding that 12 others were injured.
