Vahidi's decree orders the governors of Iranian provinces and cities to set up executive election commissions within three days.

Article 131 of the Iranian Constitution states that elections must be held within 50 days of the death or incapacitation of a president.

The day after Raisi's death, representatives of the three branches of the Iranian government met and agreed on June 28 as the date for the vote.

Iran's election headquarters announced today that the period for submitting candidacies will be open between May 30 and June 3.

The Council of Guardians of the Revolution will publish a definitive list of approved candidates about two weeks before the elections.

The election campaign itself will begin on June 12 and will run until June 27, according to the calendar published by the Iranian authorities.
