Put dog in bag and abandoned it in the trash. Animal ended up dying

The Local Police of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, is investigating a 54-year-old woman suspected of abandoning a dog inside a bag in a garbage container.
In a note released this Sunday, the police revealed that the investigation points to the woman as the perpetrator of a crime of abandonment, after the dog, a Dachshund breed, was rescued from inside the container.
The alert was given by a resident, who seemed to hear the "sound of an animal crying". Initially, he disregarded it, but hours later, when he passed by the same place, he heard the noise again and wanted to understand its origin.
"He discovered that it was the cry of a dog and that it came from inside a municipal garbage container that was full of garbage bags. He did not hesitate to empty the container until he found, at the bottom of the dumpster, a closed bag with a Dachshund dog crying a lot", informs the police.
The authorities were called and verified that the animal "could not move on its own, so they activated the municipal animal collection service to take it to a veterinary clinic".
During the investigation, "the veterinary clinic where the animal was recovering informed the Local Police that, due to the complicated state in which it was found, the animal had not been able to withstand the recovery treatment and had died".
In the following days, the police managed to reach the suspect, who would be the sole owner of the animal.
In addition to the criminal responsibility for the existence of a crime, the Local Police "initiated a sanctioning process for the possible practice of a serious infraction of the animal welfare law due to lack of provision of basic care to the animal, with a penalty ranging from 10,001 to 50,000 euros".
