The Spaniard Daniel Sancho is expected to learn his fate on August 29, but until then, some details of his trip to Thailand continue to emerge, namely about one of the biggest mysteries in the case: Why did he not return to Spain to escape the Thai justice system after the murder of surgeon Edwin Arrieta?

The Telecinco program 'Fiesta' had access to a statement from the agency where Sancho bought the flight to Thailand, which reveals that he did not have the money to pay for the tickets.

"This is where the Sancho case began," said journalist Alejandro Entrambasaguas.

Sancho had gone to the establishment on four occasions. "He did not have the money to pay for the tickets, he intended to pay for the round trip," he said. "He wanted to be in Thailand for about a week. He had no money. He used several credit cards that had no money," he added.

Revealing the difficult financial situation that Sancho was going through before leaving for Thailand, the journalist added: "He was nervous because the agency detected that he had no money. When the case came to light, they remembered him because he went with several credit cards. They thought he had stolen the cards. The trip cost him around a thousand euros," he said.

It is recalled that Sancho, who is the son of Spanish actor Rodolfo Sancho, is accused of murdering, dismembering and hiding the body of Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta.

The Spaniard met with the victim on August 2 and they rode a motorcycle together. When they returned to the hotel, they had an argument after the Colombian asked him to have sex. Sancho is said to have punched his friend in the face, knocking him unconscious.

The man, in a panic, then took him to the bathroom, trying to revive him. After waiting an hour and with no response from Edwin Arrieta, Sancho decided to start dismembering the doctor, a process that he admitted took "three hours".

On the same day, he put the man's remains in black plastic bags and rented a kayak that helped him throw most of them into the sea. The rest of the body was taken to the island's landfill, where hours later a worker would make the discovery.

During the trial, the Spaniard confessed that he felt "sorry and guilty" when he saw the state in which the surgeon was and denied premeditation of the crime.
