The High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell, said he was "horrified" on Monday by the attack on a Palestinian refugee camp in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, which killed at least 50 people.
"Horrified by news coming out of Rafah on Israeli strikes killing dozens of displaced persons, including small children", Borrell said in a post on the social network X (formerly Twitter), in which he added: "I condemn this in the strongest terms".
It is worth remembering that at least 50 people died this morning in the bombing of a refugee camp in the northwest of Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, in an attack confirmed by the Israeli army, which targeted two senior Hamas officials.
"There is no safe place in Gaza. These attacks must stop immediately. The orders of the ICJ [International Court of Justice] and IHL [International Humanitarian Law] must be respected by all parties", he also said.

There is no safe place in Gaza. These attacks must stop immediately. ICJ orders & IHL must be respected by all parties.
Meanwhile, the Israeli government promised to investigate an attack by its military forces, assuring that Israel continues to try to "limit civilian casualties" and that the attack targeted two members of Hamas, according to Avi Hyman, spokesman for the Israeli government, during a press conference.
Israel and Hamas have been at war since an attack by the Palestinian group on Israeli soil on October 7, 2023, caused about 1,200 deaths and two hundred hostages, according to authorities in Tel Aviv.
The Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip, launched after the attack, caused more than 36,000 deaths, according to Hamas, a group classified as a "terrorist organization" by Israel, the European Union (EU) and the United States.
