"This is very good news for the residents of the north. We will provide a solution for the north, both economically and socially and in terms of security," said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after the approval of the 'Dawn for the North' plan.

Of the approved amount, about 877 million euros will be allocated in the short term to measures that aim to "ensure business activity in the region" or "help the displaced population with educational issues".

The rest of the budget, just over 752 million euros, will be allocated to the long-term rehabilitation of the area affected by the fall of projectiles.

"We have come a long way. The immediate plan will greatly help the residents of the north," Netanyahu said.

Different brigades of reservists from the Israeli army have carried out, in recent weeks, combat exercises and simulations in the northern zone, where it is feared that an open war could break out between Israel and the Lebanese militia Hezbollah.

The border between Israel and Lebanon is experiencing the highest peak of tension since 2006, with an intense exchange of offensives since October.

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for up to 15 attacks on Israeli territory this Sunday, one of the most intense days, while today it has already claimed five attacks.

Israel confirmed today that its planes attacked a Hezbollah militiaman in an attack in the Aynata area, in southern Lebanon, as well as the militia's military structure in the Aitaroun area.

This crossfire has already caused more than 430 deaths, most of them on the Lebanese side and in the ranks of Hezbollah, which confirmed 295 victims among its combatants, some in Syria. In Israel, 23 people died in the north (13 soldiers and 10 civilians).

The exchange of offensives began on October 8, a day after the attack triggered by the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas on Israeli soil, which caused about 1,200 deaths and two hundred hostages, according to Israeli authorities.

Since then, Israel has launched an offensive in the Gaza Strip that has caused more than 36,000 deaths, according to Hamas, which has governed the small Palestinian enclave since 2007.
