EU asks Ukraine for balance to avoid escalation of war
The European Union's top diplomat on Monday called for a balancing act between Ukraine's need to strike targets in Russia with Western-supplied equipment and the risk of provoking an escalation in the conflict.

"According to the law of war, it is perfectly possible, there is no contradiction whatsoever in retaliating, being able to counterattack those who attack me from their territory", said Josep Borrell to the press upon arriving at a Council of Defense Ministers of the European Union (EU), in Brussels.
Borrell stated that at this meeting the possibility of allowing Ukraine to use European weapons to attack within Russia will be discussed.
Russia militarily invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
NATO and European Union countries support Ukraine and have been sending weapons and ammunition to the Ukrainians since the beginning of the conflict.
