A 40-year-old woman abandoned her 16-year-old daughter on a highway in Rome, Italy, on Monday, May 27, after the teenager told her mother she had failed a Latin test.

According to the Italian edition of Today, after telling her mother about the grade, a heated argument ensued, which ended with the woman ordering her daughter out of the car, leaving her alone on the highway, near the Appio tunnel.

Shortly after, the girl was spotted by a Highway Police patrol walking on the emergency lane, agitated and visibly frightened, running the risk of being run over.

After being rescued, the teenager was taken to a police station, where, after calming down, she was asked to recount what had happened.

It was then that a complaint was filed against the woman for abandonment of a minor dependent. The Italian woman now runs the risk of being banned from approaching her daughter.
