The information is being released by the Spanish news agency EFE based on an Egyptian security source.

According to the source, the new Israeli proposal includes the willingness to discuss the demand of the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas to reach a "sustainable calm" in the Palestinian enclave.

The Palestinian group has argued that this calm will only be possible with the total cessation of attacks and a permanent ceasefire.

EFE adds that the new Israeli proposal includes "a willingness to discuss Hamas's demand for a 'sustainable calm' in the Gaza Strip", as well as a "willingness to be flexible" regarding the number of detainees to be released in the first humanitarian phase of the agreement.

The source stressed that this is "a written and officially updated proposal", which contains "good details on the general principles" for reaching a possible agreement on the release of detainees in Gaza and which may initially lead to a temporary ceasefire to explore a "sustainable calm" at a later stage.

The same source also added that the talks are expected to resume next week in Doha, the capital of Qatar.

A Hamas source reiterated that "there are no negotiations if they do not include the total cessation of aggression, the withdrawal of the (Israeli army) from the Rafah crossing and the reinstatement of its previous administration".

"The definitive cessation of aggression throughout the Gaza Strip is the fulcrum and the beginning, and without it there will be no agreement", he added.
