"Based on the samples and tests carried out on the helicopter's wreckage and parts, the way they were scattered and the distances of the components separated from the main body, an explosion in flight caused by sabotage has been ruled out," the Armed Forces General Staff was quoted as saying by the Mehr news agency.

The military also found no evidence of "electronic warfare" against the aircraft, which was carrying Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and six other passengers in the northwestern province of East Azerbaijan.

Moreover, "no defects were detected in the helicopter's maintenance or repair records" -- a US-made Bell 212 -- the number of occupants was within the recommended limits and the pilots reported nothing abnormal in their communications that lasted until 69 seconds before the crash.

The military, however, said it was still investigating the weather conditions and that the data would be released later.
