Teacher who killed boyfriend and buried him in the garden sentenced to 20 years

A primary school teacher has been jailed for a minimum of 20 years after she admitted killing her boyfriend and burying his body in the back garden of her home in Northampton, England.
Fiona Beal, 50, was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 20 years for stabbing Nicholas Billingham, 42, to death, Sky News reports.
The victim's remains were found four and a half months after he was last seen on November 1, 2021.
Last month, Beal pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility. On Thursday, she was sentenced by Mr Justice Mark Lucraft KC following a two-day sentencing hearing.
"Having killed him and buried his body in the garden you then lied to his mother, to various friends, to all of his family and to yours about what you had done and where he was," the judge said.
During the trial, Billingham's mother Yvonne Valentine accused the defendant of "pure evil" and said they had been together near Christmas on December 23, 2021 - unaware her son's body was just yards away.
Prosecutors said the defendant carried out a "carefully planned domestic execution", stabbing her partner of 17 years in the neck. She then dumped his body in the street as if it was "fly-tipped building waste".
In the aftermath of the killing, she sent messages from his phone and even told his sisters-in-law that their relationship was over and that he had been having an affair.
In February 2022, a diary was found in which Beal confessed to the killing.
"I smoked all day. I had a bath and left the water running. He kept pestering me for sex. I encouraged him to have a bath with the incentive of sex afterwards. Whilst he was in the bath I put the knife in my dressing gown pocket and then put it in the bedside drawer. I also got a chisel, a bin bag and cable ties. I asked him to put on a blindfold," the diary entry read, adding: "My last words to him when he asked me why were that I was not going to let the other woman do to me what he had done to me."
She was arrested in March 2022 after his body was discovered.
