The former mayor of Mexico City received between 58% and 60% of the votes, well ahead of her opposition rival, former centre-right senator Xochitl Gálvez, who received between 26% and 28% of the votes in this election, said the president of the INE, Guadalupe Taddei.
Centrist Jorge Alvarez Máynez received between 9% and 10% of the votes.
"I will not let you down," promised the President-elect of Mexico, in her first statements to a television channel, after the first partial results were announced by the INE, which placed her ahead in the presidential race.
"I will become the first woman President of Mexico," she told her supporters, announcing that her party, the National Regeneration Movement (Morena), had obtained a "qualified majority" in Congress.
Both Gálvez and Máynez have already acknowledged Sheinbaum's victory, who publicly thanked her electoral rivals.
"I want to thank Xóchitl Gálvez Ruiz, candidate of Strength and Heart for Mexico, for the phone call I received a few minutes ago acknowledging the victory," said the President-elect of Mexico.
Sheinbaum also thanked the personalities and heads of state who acknowledged the victory, including the congratulations from the current Mexican President, Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
"Thank you especially for the phone call I received a short while ago and for the video that was made public, thank you for the congratulations from President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, an exceptional and unique man who has transformed the history of our country for the better," she said.
