Suspect arrested for several robberies of "high violence" in Cascais
The 35-year-old man is suspected of "committing several robbery crimes, aggravated by the high level of violence used to carry them out". He was remanded in custody.

In a statement sent to newsrooms this Friday, the Public Security Police (PSP) explained that the arrest took place at 7:05 am on Wednesday, "during an investigation related to the crime of theft and the fight against violent and serious crime".
The PSP investigation, coordinated by the Cascais Public Prosecutor's Office, began with a robbery inquiry, but ended up "revealing a series of crimes committed by the same suspect, using a very high degree of violence".
"With the arrest made, the PSP aimed not only to obtain evidence and arrest the suspect of serious and highly violent crimes, but also to restore peace of mind to the population of Cascais, as the suspect's activity generated enormous social alarm," the PSP stressed.
After being presented to the Lisbon Oeste-Cascais Court for the first judicial interrogation, the individual was subjected to the precautionary measure of preventive detention.
