Maritime Police detects violations aboard vessels in the Azores

The local Command of the Maritime Police (PM) of Ponta Delgada, in the Azores, detected several infractions on board five fishing vessels, on the island of São Miguel, following an inspection action, it was announced today.

According to the PM, the cause is "lack of documentation on board, lack of size of life jackets or flotation devices" and "non-compliance with the safety capacity".

The PM also identified the "lack of radio operator certificate, signaling and identification of fishing gear".

As part of the initiative, five vessels were inspected, four for professional fishing and one for leisure, and the PM drew up four reports, with three members of the Ponta Delgada Local PM Command involved in the operation, supported by a vessel.
