According to the program released by the Commemorative Commission of the 50th Anniversary of April 25, this military ceremony will take place at 09:00 at Praça do Comércio and will be presided over by the Head of State and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.

The ceremony will be attended by 1,100 military personnel, 430 of whom will be on parade, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces (EMGFA) told Lusa.

"The ceremony includes a parade of the Forces on parade and 200 military personnel equipped for combat, with aircraft flyover, followed by a parade of Army vehicles," said EMGFA.

At the site there will be 37 military assets: from the Navy, two frigates, an ocean patrol vessel, a coastal patrol vessel and a hydrographic vessel; from the Army, "two motorcycles, two ultralight vehicles, a Panhard M11, five URO VAMTAC vehicles and eight PANDUR vehicles"; and from the Air Force, several aircraft, including an EH-101 Merlin, two Koalas, a KC-390, a C-130H, a Falcon 50 and four F16Ms, among others.

According to the program, between 09:40 and noon, the historical recreation of "Operation end of regime" will continue, the beginning of which, similar to what happened 50 years ago, will take place on the night of the 24th, in Santarém, at the former Practical School of Cavalry.

This operation was launched at dawn on April 25, 1974, under the leadership of young captains and put an end to 48 years of dictatorship in Portugal.

At that moment of the ceremony, the Portuguese Association of Antique Military Vehicles will parade a set of 13 military vehicles of the time through Praça do Comércio before the President of the Republic and other entities present.

"The vehicles will then be parked on site, allowing citizens to interact with the April military personnel. An M47 Patton tank will also be on display, representing the military forces loyal to the Government of Marcello Caetano," the program reads.

Then, later than usual due to this military ceremony, the traditional solemn ceremony commemorating April 25, 1974 will take place in the Assembly of the Republic.
