The results were announced by the president of the Congress, José Manuel Rodrigues, at the opening of the closing session of the grand meeting, which started about an hour late compared to what was scheduled in the program and ends today in Viseu.

The announcement was made at 1:25 p.m., after the delegates voted to elect the new bodies during the morning.

The list of the new leader received 684 votes in favor, which corresponds to 89.3%, 65 blank votes (8.5%) and 17 null votes (2.2%), out of a total of 766 voters.

The global strategy motion presented by Nuno Melo, the only one that went to a vote, was unanimously approved on the first day of the congress.

The first time he was elected leader of the CDS-PP, at the Guimarães congress in 2022, the list presented by Nuno Melo to the national political commission obtained 74.93% of the votes.

As for the National Council -- the party's highest body between congresses -- the single list presented by Nuno Melo gathered 691 votes in favor, 43 blank votes and 18 null votes. Former parliamentary leader Nuno Magalhães once again led the list and was the first elected councilor.

The National Council Board, led by Luís Queiró, was elected with 700 votes in favor, 43 blank votes and 14 null votes.

The 31st CDS-PP Congress also elected the Congress Board, which will once again be chaired by José Manuel Rodrigues. The list received 689 votes in favor, 36 blank votes and 12 null votes.

The National Council of Jurisdiction, a body that will be chaired by António José de Morais Batista, was elected with 704 votes in favor, 38 blank votes and 14 null votes.

The list for the National Supervisory Council obtained 706 votes in favor, 41 blank votes and 10 null votes. This body, which will not include any women, will be chaired by Diogo Carlos Mendes Almeida da Silva.

After the announcement of the results, the president of the congress declared: "The new bodies of the CDS-PP are thus elected".

The closing session started about an hour and a half late, at 1:20 p.m.

All the guests were greeted by the president of the Board, among them the Ukrainian ambassador, a moment that raised the congress hall.

"The struggle of the Ukrainian people is also our struggle", stressed José Manuel Rodrigues.

Videos from the president of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, and the president of the Popular Party (PP), Alberto Núñez Feijóo, were also shown.
