The President of the Medical Association will be the first to be received today by Minister Ana Paula Martins, to whom he will present what he understands to be the priority measures for the sector.

To Lusa, the president revealed that he would deliver a document with the "six priorities for the next 60 days", from which "the appreciation of the working conditions of doctors" and the role of doctors in the health system and, in particular, in the National Health Service stand out.

After the Medical Association, the ministry will receive the other associations, such as the nurses or the psychologists.

On Friday morning, the salary negotiations with the medical unions will start: First, the Independent Union of Doctors (SIM) and then the National Federation of Doctors (FNAM).

Salary increases and better working conditions are some of the demands that the unions had already been claiming from the previous ministerial team and that they will bring back to the negotiating table.

To Lusa, the president of FNAM guaranteed that she is "in good faith" to "start a negotiation process" and expressed the wish that there are no "negotiations or shady plays" throughout the process.

The reinstatement of the 35-hour week, the integration of intern doctors into the career and career progressions are other priorities of FNAM, which presented a proposal for salary increases of around 30% to the previous government.

In addition to the doctors' unions, the ministry will also receive the nurses' and pharmacists' unions.

In a statement, the ministry's press office stressed that "the ministry's dialogue process with the partners began with the patients' associations, reaffirming its commitment to the people. On Friday, the 19th, the Government received RDPortugal, the Health in Dialogue Platform and GAT -- Group of Activists in Treatment".
