"Now, a two-day period follows for complaints about this ruling by the parties and their representatives", Filipe Câmara explained to the Lusa agency, adding that "if there are no complaints, the lists will be considered definitively admitted".

The deadline for submitting candidacies for the Madeira early legislative elections ended on Monday, with the Funchal Court receiving 14 lists, corresponding to 13 parties running independently and one coalition.

The draw for the order on the ballot paper placed ADN in first place and JPP in last.

The Alternativa Democrática Nacional (ADN) is followed on the ballot paper by the Bloco de Esquerda (BE), Partido Socialista (PS), Livre (L), Iniciativa Liberal (IL), Reagir, Incluir, Reciclar (RIR), CDU -- Coligação Democrática Unitária (PCP/PEV), Chega (CH), CDS -- Partido Popular (CDS-PP), Partido da Terra (MPT), Partido Social-Democrata (PPD/PSD), Pessoas-Animais-Natureza (PAN), Partido Trabalhista Português (PTP) and Juntos Pelo Povo (JPP).

"The irregularities detected in the lists were rectified by the parties and today the ruling was issued to admit all the lists presented", clarified the presiding judge of the Madeira district.

Electoral registration in the Autonomous Region of Madeira has been suspended since March 28 and until election day.

The electoral campaign will run from May 12 to 24.

The early elections of May 26 take place eight months after the most recent regional elections, after the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, dissolved the Madeiran parliament, following the political crisis triggered in January, when the leader of the Regional Government (PSD/CDS-PP), Miguel Albuquerque, was named a defendant in a process in which suspicions of corruption are being investigated.

Miguel Albuquerque later resigned, which led to the fall of the executive.

The previous regional elections were held on September 24, 2023, with two coalitions running - PSD/CDS-PP and CDU (PCP/PEV) -- and 11 other parties: PTP, JPP, BE, PS, Chega, RIR, MPT, ADN, PAN, Livre and IL.

In September, of the 253,877 voters registered to elect deputies to the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (in a single constituency), there were 135,446 voters (53.35%) and the abstention rate was 46.65%, according to the official map with the results published in Diário da República.

Among the 47 mandates allocated, the PSD/CDS-PP coalition won 23 deputies, the PS elected 11, the JPP five and the Chega four, while the CDU, IL, PAN and BE elected one deputy each.
