According to the Union of Workers of the Transforming Industries, Energy and Environmental Activities of the South (SITE Sul), the workers' decision comes after "the management, once again, made a salary update that does not restore the purchasing power lost due to the brutal increase in the cost of living". The strike begins at 00:00 on May 2nd and ends at 24:00 on May 3rd. The workers have also scheduled a strike for all overtime work between 00:00 on May 2nd and 24:00 on May 5th. According to a note from the union, the issue at stake is not only the demand for a salary increase for all workers, but also the demand for the allocation and regulation of a subsidy for unhealthiness, hardship and risk, the phased reduction of working hours to 35 hours per week, the application of the period of 25 days of vacation for all workers and the improvement of working conditions. According to the union, the workers have also scheduled gatherings at the company's gates from 22:00 on May 2nd at the Ecoparks of Seixal and Palmela/Moita.
