A 53-year-old man was arrested on Sunday, 21 April, for being suspected of drug trafficking at Humberto Delgado Airport, in Lisbon. After the "x-ray screening of cabin baggage", the suspect "was approached" for the possibility of "carrying a narcotic product" in his suitcase, describes the Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the Public Security Police (PSP) in a statement. Questioned by PSP agents, the man "said that when he was checking in to board, already inside the airport, an acquaintance gave him a package that supposedly contained medicine inside, so that he could deliver it to a third party in Bissau, who would be waiting for him". Following this, the man put the package "inside his carry-on luggage". The product was subjected to a test and it was proven to be hashish, with "398.48 individual doses" being seized in his possession. The detainee was brought to the first judicial interrogation, having been subjected to "periodic presentations" to the authority in his area of residence. Read Also: Lisbon.
