According to the SNCGP leader, the meeting with the Minister of Justice, Rita Júdice, is scheduled for 5:30 pm that day and includes on the agenda the "definition and establishment of the methodology and negotiation protocol", as well as the "presentation of the assumptions of the scope and object for negotiation".

Questioned by Lusa about the expectations for the meeting and about the fact that it will take place one day after the date scheduled for the presentation of the proposal from the Ministry of Internal Administration (MAI) to the security forces -- alongside whom they protested for the equalisation of the mission supplement attributed to the Judiciary Police -, Frederico Morais was optimistic about obtaining responses to the demands of the prison guards.
"We have many expectations, since the meeting will take place the day after the Ministry of Internal Administration meets with our colleagues from the PSP and GNR. It is a good sign from the Minister, who will receive us twice in the space of two weeks", he said, referring to the first meeting on April 17.
The leader considered that "it is very important to start a negotiation process to value the prison guard force" and it is also a recognition of the work they have been doing.
Regarding a possible risk that the solution for the prison guard force could fall short of the proposal that will be presented to the security forces, the SNCGP leader defended that these professionals continue to have the statutory right to the supplements provided for the Public Security Police (PSP).
"It means that we are all together and that whatever comes to some, comes to all. By equalising the PSP in our article 28 of the statute, we are entitled to the supplements", he concluded.
The scheduling of the first meeting with Minister Rita Júdice led the SNCGP to call off the strike that was scheduled for April 29.
In addition to the valorisation of careers, the prison guards are demanding the updating of salaries and remuneration supplements, including the attribution of a mission supplement similar to that which was attributed to the PJ.
The Government Program led by the social democrat Luís Montenegro foresees the valorisation of the careers of prison guards.
This year, the prison guards had already been on strike, only for diligences, for almost a month, between February 13 and March 9. According to the SNCGP, there are 3,885 prison guards, but around 1,500 more are needed.
