"We have several scenarios on the table, all of which I think are a relief compared to the current situation, so they will always be good news", said Maria da Graça Carvalho.

The minister was speaking to journalists in Faro, after a meeting of the Southern Zone Regional Subcommittee of the Albufeira Management Commission, which assessed the current situation of water resources in the Algarve.

Maria da Graça Carvalho stressed that the Government is "aware that the lack of water in the Algarve is a problem that is here to stay", but that the greater rainfall recorded in the region in 2024, compared to last year, opens the way to easing restrictions.

"Fortunately, this year the rainfall was greater than last year and, therefore, we have room here to ease the restrictions that have been in force until now", she reinforced.
