The arrest of the 17-year-old who created and managed a group with Nazi ideas on the Discord platform will have prevented the murder of a homeless person in Brazil, which would have been broadcast online for a fee. The information was released by the national director of the Judiciary Police (PJ), Luís Neves, on the sidelines of the military ceremony that marked the 113th anniversary of the National Republican Guard (GNR), this Friday. "One of the crimes that was being planned in Brazil was the commission of a homicide with traces of suffering of a homeless person, in which these images would be broadcast in a cybernetic environment and in which each assistant would pay an amount", revealed the official to the press on the spot. Luís Neves said that the suspicions reached the PJ in December last year, having required "a very slow, filigree work", until the identification and arrest of the teenager, which occurred on Thursday, in Grande Porto. "We had to count on international police cooperation and with the help of the platforms, because they are not interested in conveying messages of hate, of extremism", he clarified. The national director of the PJ also pointed out that, at the moment, the minor is the "only Portuguese" who has been identified. "This young man had an enormous leadership capacity to be able to move other young people of the same age, especially Brazilians, in the sense of radicalizing others, of self-mutilating themselves, of committing mass crimes and crimes of homicide", he said, adding that the group was composed of "dozens" of young people "who live in isolation, with antisocial behavior", protected by the "impunity of anonymous networks". It should be noted that the teenager is "strongly indicted for the practice of the crimes of qualified homicide, qualified offenses against physical integrity and discrimination and incitement to hatred and violence", after having encouraged "people who support the same ideals" to commit crimes such as "serious self-mutilation of young people, mutilation, death of animals, dissemination of Nazi extremist propaganda, instigation and practice of the 'mission' of committing massacres in schools (filmed and transmitted via mobile phone), [and] sharing and selling child pornography". Similar actions were shared in the group, including live broadcasts of attacks on animals that led to their mutilation and death and of young people drinking detergent and self-mutilating with sharp objects. "Through a particularly violent and extremist ideology, the young man gave advice on the 'modus operandi' and clothing to wear by the other participants when preparing and practicing the crimes", listed the PJ, in a statement. The suspect's influence was at the origin of the attack on a school in São Paulo In fact, the teenager's influence led to the attack on the Sapopemba State School, in São Paulo, Brazil, in which a 16-year-old boy killed a 17-year-old colleague and injured three other people, on October 23 of last year. The person responsible surrendered to the authorities at the time, but it was only now that it was learned that the Portuguese was the 'mind' behind the crime. In fact, "the perpetrator of the crime even shared images of the weapon and the balaclava (cap) that he would use, as well as of the school where the crime would take place", according to the PJ. During the house searches carried out on Thursday, the authorities seized a "vast evidentiary collection, namely computer and digital material". "The investigation will continue, with one of the main lines of investigation being to identify, in international terms, other agents of the crimes in which they may be involved in this network and in this type of conduct", they also said. The suspect will be brought before the judicial authorities for the application of coercive measures, this Friday.
