The 17-year-old who was recently arrested by the Judiciary Police (PJ) on suspicion of having orchestrated and ordered school massacres in Brazil was placed in preventive detention, advances the CNN Portugal According to the television station, the criminal examining magistrate considered that there was a risk of continued criminal activity, disturbance of the investigation and social alarm, while the investigation is ongoing. The young Portuguese man, who lives in Greater Porto, is suspected of 12 crimes - one of murder, six of attempted murder, one of public incitement to a crime, one of public apology for a crime, two of child pornography and criminal association. It should be recalled that it was yesterday that the PJ revealed that the suspect was arrested in the north of the country. The investigation, which began with "urgency", had the collaboration of the Federal Police of Brazil, in an investigation titled by the DIAP of Lisbon, and "aimed to know and identify the activity perpetrated online" by the young man, "who promoted Nazism, inciting extremist behavior". According to the PJ, the suspect "created and manages a group on the Discord platform, already duly identified, where different people who support the same ideals and who intended to commit acts similar to those idealized and propagated by him gathered". Among them, "serious self-mutilation of young people, mutilation, killing of animals, dissemination of extremist Nazi propaganda, instigation and practice of the 'mission' of committing massacres in schools (filmed and transmitted via mobile phone), sharing and selling child pornography". This type of conduct was shared in the group, including live broadcasts of attacks on animals that lead to their mutilation and death and of young people drinking detergent and mutilating themselves with sharp objects. "Through a particularly violent and extremist ideology, the young man gave advice on the 'modus operandi' and clothing to be worn by the other participants during the preparation and practice of the crimes", said the PJ. Among others, it was in the wake of these behaviors that the firearm attack on a school in Sapopemba, Brazil, took place, resulting in the death of a 17-year-old girl. At a press conference on Friday, the national director of the PJ revealed that the arrest stopped the existence of other crimes.  "We stopped an activity that would have more deaths, more young people, more schools attacked, more mass crimes, more human suffering. It is a work of repression, but also a global preventive work", said Luís Neves.  Regarding the young man, the director of the PJ highlighted the mentor profile for that online community, considering that "he had an enormous leadership capacity to make other young people of the same age, especially Brazilians, move in the direction of radicalizing others, mutilating themselves, committing crimes". Luís Neves admitted that identifying the young man was like "finding a needle in a haystack", describing a "slow and filigree" work since the end of last year, when the facts were reported to the PJ. In this sense, he warned families to pay "more attention" to young people and to the risks of their social isolation, presenting an example of another crime that was being prepared. "One of the crimes that was being planned in Brazil was a murder with hints of prolonged suffering of a homeless person, in which these images would be transmitted in cyberspace and in which each assistant would pay a certain amount. We are talking about a set of crimes that was made impossible", he added. [News updated at 8:13 pm]
