Rock climber rescued after falling from a cliff at Cabo da Roca

A climber was injured today and had to be rescued after falling from a cliff at Cabo da Roca, in the municipality of Sintra, district of Lisbon, a source from the National Maritime Authority (AMN) told Lusa.

The alert for the incident was given at 6:00 pm, for a fall from a cliff by a man who was climbing.

The alert was given by the man himself, who suffered injuries as a result of the fall, said a source from AMN.

Elements of the local firefighters and the Cascais Lifeboat Station vessel were deployed to the site, and the rescue of the injured man was carried out from the sea side.

According to the website of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC), at 9:20 pm there were 23 operational staff on site, supported by eight vehicles and the incident was already being concluded.
