The elements of the Caminha Local Command of the Maritime Police rescued last night, May 4, two people around 30 years old and of Spanish nationality who were "isolated on a rock in the International Section of the Minho River", in the Penso area, municipality of Melgaço.

According to a note from the National Maritime Authority, following an alert received at 8:40 pm, through the Lisbon Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC Lisbon), "informing that two people were isolated on a rock, due to the rising water level", elements of the Caminha Local Command of the Maritime Police went to the site, using a boat.

Elements of the Melgaço Volunteer Firefighters, Civil Protection and GNR also went to the site by land.

"Upon arriving at the site, the Maritime Police elements found that the two people were physically well, with no need for medical assistance, and proceeded to rescue them to land", it can also be read.
