Young man in preventive custody for crimes of fires and explosions in Vila Real

A young man responsible for fires, explosions and other particularly dangerous conducts in Vila Real, was remanded in custody, the Public Prosecutor's Office (MP) advances.
In a note on the website of the Attorney General's Office, the MP notes that "it understood that it was necessary to apply coercive measures" to a defendant arrested outside of flagrante delicto who was present at the first judicial interrogation, which took place on May 2 and 3, 2024, at the Judicial Court of the District of Vila Real".
After the interrogation, the Court considered the defendant to be strongly suspected of "a crime of fires, explosions and other particularly dangerous conducts, a crime of qualified theft and a crime of qualified damage".
The missive also reveals that, considering the dangers of escape, of continuation of criminal activity and of serious disturbance of public order and tranquility, the Court decreed the application of the coercive measure of preventive detention to the defendant.
The suspect's age was not revealed.
