Former manager of Santa Casa Global says he was "removed without just cause"
The former administrator of Santa Casa Global, Ricardo Gonçalves, said today that he had been dismissed by the provider Ana Jorge without just cause and in a slanderous manner, and argued that the internationalization of social games could not have an immediate return.

In his initial intervention, the former administrator states that he was "the target of an unjustified dismissal, slanderous and detrimental to his good name", a dismissal carried out by the ombudsperson Ana Jorge, who took office in May 2023.
Ricardo Gonçalves joined the SCML staff in 1995 as an administrative assistant, and then held several positions in the institution until his departure. He was later called by the then vice-ombudsperson Edmundo Martinho -- when the ombudsperson was Pedro Santana Lopes -- to manage the internationalisation of social games.
According to the former administrator of Santa Casa Global, there is a "record of all financial movements" in the internationalisation process and he even said he had "difficulty understanding" how the consultant BDO claims to have lost access to the information necessary to carry out the forensic audit.
Ricardo Gonçalves stated that all information related to internationalisation, including 'due diligence' (a process of investigating a business opportunity that the investor must accept in order to assess the risks of the transaction), is at Santa Casa.
"If they say they can't find it, it's because they didn't look for it," he said.
Specifically in relation to 'due diligence', the former administrator assured that they were taken to the Board meeting and that this is recorded in the Minutes, emphasising that there was never any declaration of vote on internationalisation.
This explanation by Ricardo Gonçalves follows the statement by the resigning vice-ombudsperson Ana Azevedo that she warned the then ombudsperson Edmundo Martinho about the risks of internationalisation.
Ricardo Gonçalves added that all Board decisions on this matter "were taken unanimously".
Similar to what had already been defended by the former ombudsperson Edmundo Martinho, in today's morning hearing, Ricardo Gonçalves assured that the internationalisation process always aimed to diversify SCML's revenues so that the institution could pursue its purposes and not be so dependent on social games, through other sources of revenue.
He also argued that it would not be possible to obtain an immediate return, as Edmundo Martinho had also argued.
