After all, was Bobi (really) 31 years old? Owner provides evidence and takes Guinness to court
Bobi lost the title of the world's oldest dog in February, after the organization said it did not have "the necessary evidence" to keep "Bobi as the record holder".

Bobi, the Portuguese dog who was considered the oldest in the world, would be 31 after all? The owner presented laboratory evidence that proves it and now says he will take the Guinness World Records to court.
"Bobi's age is confirmed and he would be 32 in a few days. Saliva and blood tests were done and they are very clear. The biologist and the laboratory that carried out this situation prove that Bobi, at the time of these tests, was 31 years old", said Leonel Costa, in an interview with TVI.
The attribution of the title to Bobi caught the attention of several national and international experts who wanted to meet the animal and examine it, something that the owner said "he always agreed with".
According to TVI's report, this data has already been transmitted to Guinness and, due to the lack of response, Leonel Costa said that he will take the case to court.
"The first point will be the reinstatement of Bobi's titles" and, then, to prove to "everyone", even "some who doubted Bobi and the owner" that, in fact, the animal "lived a long life".
In this process, Leonel will also urge Guinness to change Bobi's breed in its records, since it is stated that he is an Alentejo Mastiff, but the owner assures that his companion is a "pure mastiff".
It is worth remembering that, after several doubts, Bobi lost the title of the oldest dog in the world in February, since the entity said "it did not have the necessary evidence to support Bobi's claim as the record holder".
The animal, which was born in the village of Conqueiros, in Leiria, died on October 21 at the age of 31 and would have gone down in history and broken a record registered in Guinness for having been considered the oldest dog in the world.
