With hundreds of pilgrims flocking to the Sanctuary of Fátima since early morning, a few hours before the start of the ceremonies on May 12 and 13, the Public Security Police did not hesitate to remind those who are still traveling to the site of the advice.

Thus, through a publication released on the social network Facebook, the PSP listed several important tips:

  • "Walk facing traffic, in line and on the shoulder;
  • Wear a reflective vest (even during the day);
  • Do not use headphones or your cell phone while walking on the road;
  • Do not drink alcoholic beverages before or while walking;
  • Do not walk during the hottest hours;
  • Plan your stops for eating and sleeping in advance;
  • Rest outside the roadway;
  • Support vehicles should stop off the road and in places with good visibility".

It should be recalled that the official ceremonies of the pilgrimage begin at 9:30 pm this Sunday, with the recitation of the rosary and the candlelight procession, followed by the celebration of the Word, at the altar of the enclosure, presided over by Cardinal Juan José Omella.

After this ceremony, there is a night of prayer vigil, which precedes the Eucharistic procession at 7:00 am on Monday, followed by the recitation of the rosary and an international mass, which begins at 10:00 am, ending with the traditional Farewell procession.

According to the Sanctuary of Fátima, in addition to the Spanish cardinal and the Apostolic Nuncio in Portugal, Ivo Scapolo, 17 bishops from Portuguese dioceses and the bishop of Tete (Mozambique) will be present at the ceremonies.

The pilgrimage follows the theme of the year at the Sanctuary of Fátima, 'Called to the Encounter', which, according to the rector of the Marian temple, Father Carlos Cabecinhas, appeals for a year of prayer in preparation for the Jubilee of 2025.
