Maritime Police Seizes More Than 232 Kilos of Fish in the Azores
Of the total seized, 112.95 kilos were collected and donated to a charity.

The Maritime Police seized, on Friday, more than 232 kilos of fish during an inspection operation carried out off the coast of the island of Santa Maria, in the Azores.
In a statement released on the website of the National Maritime Authority, it is stated that the Maritime Police intercepted a vessel, which had been detected "in presumed violation" about one nautical mile (equivalent to 1852 meters) from the island of Santa Maria. After being intercepted, the vessel headed for the port of Vila do Porto.
In total, 232.15 kilos of various fish were seized. Of these, 112.95 kilos were collected and donated to a solidarity institution, while the remaining quantity was delivered for sale by auction.
"Two elements of the Vila do Porto Maritime Police Local Command and one element of the Vila do Porto Harbor Master's Office were involved in this operation, supported by a vessel," the statement said.
