GNR arrests 17 people for drug trafficking in Aveiro and Porto

The National Republican Guard (GNR) arrested 17 people aged between 22 and 57 on Monday, May 13, for drug trafficking.
According to a statement that Notícias ao Minuto had access to, the arrests took place in the municipalities of Aveiro and Porto as part of a police operation related to drug trafficking.
The military of the Guard carried out several diligences that culminated in the fulfillment of 28 search warrants, 20 at home and eight in vehicles, as well as in the fulfillment of 12 arrest warrants.
Following the investigation, which had been going on for about a year, "it was possible to determine that the group of suspects was involved in drug trafficking on public roads, in the area of Vale de Cambra, Oliveira de Azeméis, São João da Madeira and Santa Maria da Feira", it can be read.
With this action, the GNR dismantled a network with a great criminal impact in the North of the district of Aveiro, also associated with theft crimes.
The operation culminated in the arrest of nine men and three women, with warrants outside of flagrante delicto, and two men and three women arrested in flagrante delicto. 738 doses of hashish were also seized; 130 doses of cocaine; 150 doses of heroin; four doses of MDMA; eight vehicles; an alarm pistol; two sabers; a rubber baton; 4,600 euros in cash; various material used in the packaging and cutting of the drug product and material related to the practice of thefts.
The detainees will be present at the Santa Maria da Feira Judicial Court today, May 14, for the application of the respective coercive measures.
