This device will be in the field between today and May 31, and it is the first reinforcement of means of the year, in what is called 'Level Bravo'.

During this period, 11,293 operational personnel will be available, who are part of 2,517 teams from the various agents present in the field, in addition to the aerial resources, which will be a maximum of 34.

The 11,293 operational personnel from the 2,517 teams involved in DECIR over the next two weeks are elements belonging to volunteer firefighters, the Civil Protection Special Force, military personnel from the National Republican Guard and elements from the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests, namely forest sappers and forest firefighter sappers.

Compared to the same period last year, 893 more operational personnel and an identical number of aerial resources are involved in DECIR.

The firefighting resources will be reinforced again on June 1, but it is between July and September, considered the most critical phase, the period that mobilizes the largest device, with 14,155 operational personnel from 3,162 teams and 3,173 vehicles available this year, a slight increase compared to 2023.

However, the period considered most critical in rural fires will have 70 aerial resources this year, two less than in 2023, with the resources that will not be available in DECIR being two 'canadair' aircraft due to market difficulties.

The Air Force guarantees that the 70 aerial resources for this year are all under contract.

This year, the approval and presentation of DECIR happened almost simultaneously with the first reinforcement of means of the year.

On Tuesday, when the device was presented, the president of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC), Duarte da Costa, considered that DECIR for 2024 is "stable and robust".
