Marcelo asks for quick response to pending immigration processes
The President of the Republic today asked that the Government quickly operationalize the response to pending processes of regularization of immigrants, with human and logistical means, putting an end to the current waiting times.

Speaking to reporters at the Lycée Français in Lisbon, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa said that the organizational structure of the Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum (AIMA), which replaced the Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF) in matters of reception and integration, should be assessed later.
"First, what is urgently needed in months is: to make the existing machine work in such a way that the waiting times and the situation of doubt, anguish and uncertainty of thousands of people disappear", he pointed out.
According to Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, it is necessary to "quickly create conditions to operationalize, that is, to make a machine work that can solve the thousands of cases that have been pending over the last few years".
"This is the fundamental concern, and to the extent that those with government responsibilities can respond to this need, with human resources, with logistical resources, with organizational resources, I think it is half the battle", he added.
"Then, second part: see how the organization will work when there is cruising speed: does it work, does it work well, is it working better in some places, worse in others? What needs to be changed?", he suggested.
The President of the Republic insisted that "priority should be given to what is most urgent, and then see what is working, will work or will not work in the organization".
