Preventive for suspects of stealing stores in Arcos de Valdevez and Braga
The GNR detained a couple in the act of stealing from a butcher's shop and mini-market in Braga, suspected of committing the same crime in Arcos de Valdevez, having been placed in preventive detention after appearing in court, it was revealed today.

Contacted by the Lusa agency, Captain Carlos Andrade, from the Arcos de Valdevez GNR, explained that the suspects - the 27-year-old woman and the 39-year-old man - belong to a group made up of around five members, responsible for thefts from commercial establishments in the districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga and Porto.
"The thefts committed by the group, which has no fixed address, are continuous, almost on a daily basis and cause some social alarm, especially among traders. They steal from grocery stores, butchers, among other commercial establishments. Some of the stolen items are for their own consumption and the rest to sell and buy narcotics", he explained.
In a statement, the Territorial Command of the GNR of Viana do Castelo added that the arrest, carried out by the Criminal Investigation Unit (NIC) of Arcos de Valdevez [which covers the municipalities of Arcos de Valdevez, Ponte de Lima, Ponte da Barca and Paredes de Coura], took place on Monday, following an ongoing investigation for some time.
During the course of the police operation, which culminated in the arrest of the two suspects, a vehicle, 245.08 euros, 63 collector's coins, five watches, three mobile phones, 13 bottles of various drinks, two portable communication radios, a scooter and a safe were seized.
The detainees were constituted as defendants and presented to the Braga Judicial Court, for the application of coercive measures, and the preventive detention measure was decreed for the two defendants.
