"Regarding oncological treatments, all will be completely resolved and normal functioning will occur by the end of next week," said Paula Macedo.

The official, who was speaking at a press conference, also said that, in the case of oncology, in the first week after the fire, "94 patients had pending treatments", of which 49 were rescheduled for this week and another 45 "by the end of next week."

According to Paula Macedo, from the 27th, the unit will be "functioning practically [in a] normal way", admitting that there will be "some difficulties", not in terms of treatments, but in terms of consultations.

The clinical director also stressed that, in the case of hemato-oncology, all pending treatments "will be completely concluded" by Friday.

Paula Macedo said that the collection of blood donor samples "will be functioning normally from this week on".

In the case of hemodialysis, she said that "urgent situations" and new ones that arise in the meantime continue to be addressed, and that all chronic patients are receiving treatment outside the island of São Miguel, since they were transferred to the islands of Terceira, Faial and Madeira.

"During this week, the unit has been monitoring its chronic transplant patients," said Paula Macedo, who pointed out that 63 consultations had been carried out up to this morning.

The clinical director said that the consultations "will restart in a phased manner in the multipurpose room, one part, which will be in the east wing, and later in the west wing, from tomorrow [Thursday]", as well as by telephone.

Paula Macedo specified that in the case of ophthalmology, stomatology and maxillofacial surgery, the consultations "will restart on Thursday in the usual places", and that the anticoagulation consultations have already been resumed this week.

In the case of the hospital emergency room in the different health units on the island of Ponta Delgada, 2,794 HDES users were seen, which "means that the population continues to resort to the emergency room," she said.

Paula Macedo also said that, since the fire, there have been 25 births and 51 surgeries, and that "the number of scheduled surgeries is very low" compared to the normal values of the HDES.

The fire at the Hospital do Divino Espírito Santo, in Ponta Delgada, which broke out on May 4, forced the transfer of all patients who were hospitalized to various locations in the Azores, Madeira and the mainland.
