"Contacted by the school in question, in Amadora, the management informed that the only Nepalese students attending the Grouping are in Secondary Education. It also reported to be completely unaware of the alleged episode or any similar situation, and not having even received any report about an identical act", informs the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation in a note.

According to the same information, "there is, therefore, no disciplinary occurrence registered".

The ministry also adds that "the Directorate-General for School Establishments of the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation contacted the school groups and non-grouped schools of the municipality of Lisbon, and none of them identified any situation similar to that reported in the media about an alleged 'lynching' of a '9-year-old' Nepalese student, 'in a school in Lisbon'".

Association refused to collaborate and school says it is unaware of aggression

However, adds the Ministry of Education, "the same services contacted the association that reported the alleged episode, which initially refused to collaborate. After insistence, the services of DGEstE managed to find out the educational establishment where the alleged aggression would have occurred, which claimed to be unaware of any aggression".

Rádio Renascença reported on Tuesday that a 9-year-old Nepalese boy was "a victim of lynching" at a school in Lisbon.

The complaint was made to the radio by the executive director of a Church institution, the Padre Alves Correia Centre, who considered "the motivations of the other minors were xenophobic and racist".

The ministry "strongly condemns any act of discrimination, xenophobia, racism or intolerance, inside or outside educational establishments".
