The week brought rain, colder weather... and (even) snow in Serra da Estrela
As the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) had predicted for this Thursday, it snowed on the highest points of the Serra da Estrela in the early morning.

Although last week was marked by good weather, the change in the weather brought rain, more cold and... (also) snow.
As the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) had predicted for this Thursday, it snowed on the highest points of Serra da Estrela early in the morning.
"As predicted, a sample of snow fell. Current temperature of -1°C", reads the sharing of the Meteoestrela - Serra da Estrela page on Facebook, made around 8:00 am.
Accompanying the text, the page published images from the video surveillance cameras of the Serra da Estrela Ski Resort, where you can see snow all around.
It is recalled that the IPMA forecast for this Wednesday was for "periods of very cloudy skies, generally appearing partly cloudy in the Algarve's leeward" and light showers, being more frequent and sometimes moderate on the coast north of Cabo Mondego and unlikely in the southern region".
In addition, the IPMA warned of the "possibility of snowfall on the highest points of Serra da Estrela and, until mid-morning, above 1400/1500 meters of altitude in the mountains of the far North".
For Thursday, the forecast is identical, with "periods of rain or showers, generally weak, especially in the North and Central regions, which could be snow on the highest points of Serra da Estrela until the beginning of the morning".
