The Public Prosecutor's Office (MP) of Andalusia requested, on Wednesday, May 15, a seven-year prison sentence for a 60-year-old Portuguese man accused of illegally bringing two illegal Moroccan immigrants into Motril, Spain, in 2019.

According to El Debate, the Portuguese man, who is a managing partner of a Portuguese bus company, had the help of a 44-year-old Moroccan driver to bring the illegal immigrants into Spain on March 7, 2019, in exchange for money, the amount of which "could not be determined".

At 2:30 pm that day, the suspects were caught after the authorities discovered the illegal immigrants inside "a small and dangerous cabin", "without ventilation" and with "open electrical circuits and sharp edges", built between the two front wheels of the vehicle, which made the Nador-Motril route on the ferry that connects Morocco to Spain.

In addition to being accused of aiding illegal immigration, the pair will also be held accountable for putting the lives of the two Moroccans at risk and for the crime against physical integrity.
