Three men, aged between 29 and 31, were arrested in the early hours of Wednesday on suspicion of committing the crime of qualified theft in a hotel unit, in the parish of Santa Maria Maior, in Lisbon.

According to the Public Security Police (PSP), in a statement sent to the newsrooms this Thursday, the arrests occurred after the agents were "alerted that a theft was taking place in a hotel unit".

The PSP went "immediately" to the scene and were informed by a witness that the suspects "had climbed a wall at the back of the building, thus gaining access to the interior".

The suspects were intercepted by the agents and had in their possession a suitcase with "various articles" from the hotel inside, valued at 145 euros. Among the items were 31 glasses, four boxes of facial tissues and eight packages of garbage bags.

One of the three detainees was taken to a hospital because he was in pain in his foot and will remain under observation and in police custody until he is discharged and appears for his first judicial interrogation.

The other two detainees were taken to court for their first judicial interrogation.
