SPAIC adds that the pollen concentration will rise again throughout the week, with the improvement of weather conditions, recommending the population to be aware of the weather forecast, to complement the pollen forecast.
In the atmosphere of the continent, the pollen grains from olive, pine, cork oak and oak trees and from grass herbs, plantain, nettle, sorrel and urticaceae (including pellitory) stand out.
Particularly, in the regions of Algarve, Alentejo, Lisbon and Setúbal and also in the Madeira Archipelago, the pollination of chenopodium is observed. Meanwhile, in the northern and central regions of the country, birch pollination occurs.
In the autonomous regions of Madeira and the Azores, the pollen concentration in the atmosphere is low, with the pollen mainly coming from pine and cypress trees (and/or cryptomeria in the Azores) and from urticaceae herbs (including pellitory), nettle, plantain and grasses.
