In the information, the Universidade de Lisboa (EULisboa) needs the results to be positive in some of the changing rooms in Pavilions 1 and 3 and the rugby changing rooms, having therefore decided to keep the use of showers in these areas suspended.

The institution expects the situation to be resolved by mid-June, the time needed to adopt new procedures and until there are "three successive negative results, as determined by the competent health authorities".

In the information, signed by the president of EULisboa, João Roquette, the institution clarifies that the aforementioned changing rooms remain open so that users can get dressed or change clothes, ensuring that there are "no public health risks in their use, with only the use of the respective showers being suspended, access to which remains forbidden for bathing".

As an alternative, users of these changing rooms can continue to shower in the changing rooms on the 1st floor of the Swimming Pool Complex, the management of the University Stadium adds, apologising "for any inconvenience caused" and promising "to keep its users informed about the resolution of this situation".

Users had already received an email on 8th March informing them that the presence of legionella had been detected in the changing rooms in Pavilion 1, having immediately suspended the use of the showers in these changing rooms, "so that the thermal and chemical disinfection procedures recommended by the competent health authorities could be carried out".

Later, on 8th April, EULisboa reported that the results of the legionella tests carried out on 26th March 2024 had all been negative.

"In any case, we will have to keep the showers suspended in the changing rooms in Pavilions 1 and 3, the Fitness Academy and the rugby changing rooms, until we have three successive negative results, as determined by the competent health authorities", it said at the time.
