A 31-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday, May 14, on suspicion of attempted robbery and aggravated bodily harm in the parish of Santa Maria Maior, in Lisbon.
The Public Security Police (PSP) was alerted on the morning of that day that "two individuals [were] in mutual aggression and using bladed weapons" in Largo Martim Moniz, said the Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the PSP, through a statement.
At the scene, the officers found that "the aggressions began after an attempted robbery, evolving into aggressions, where the suspects in possession of bladed weapons struck each other several times".
"The victims were taken to hospital for medical treatment," the note adds.
The PSP initiated "procedural diligences" to collect "evidence, traces and images" in order to ascertain the circumstances of the incident.
The suspect was eventually arrested and presented for the first judicial interrogation, in which he was given the most serious measure of coercion, that of preventive detention.
