Man dies after falling into rocky area of river in Figueira da Foz

A 60-year-old man died in the early hours of Saturday in Figueira da Foz, after falling while returning from fishing on the north inner breakwater of the Mondego River.
According to a source from the National Maritime Authority to Notícias ao Minuto, the victim fell on the rocks and suffered a head injury.
The death was declared on the spot and the body was transported to the Coimbra Institute of Legal Medicine.
The alert was given at 01:29 and the Figueira da Foz volunteer firefighters, the Sapadores firefighters, the Maritime Police, the Public Security Police (PSP) and INEM were on the scene with a total of 17 operatives.
